A product of a musical family, Konrad’s father Allan Park is a highly respected jazz and big band drummer, while his mother Lynne Beck is also a fine soprano singer. Konrad spent his first ten years listening to and absorbing the sounds of the jazz greats, principally Miles Davis and John Coltrane, as well as developing a broad appreciation of classical music.

These influences resulted in a classical upbringing through the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra and Hobart
Concert Brass as well as extensive jazz performance with local professionals.

Having grown up through an apprenticeship style of learning with some of the country's best roots music artists such as Renee Geyer, Tim Partridge and Leo DeCastro, Konrad was afforded an invaluable introduction into a professional music career.

The Zydecats serve as a natural extension to Konrad's roots, allowing him to broaden his knowledge of the styles and origins of American music. Konrad has recently studied Indian and African music: Indian Tabla with Simrat Singh Khalsa, Hardial Singh and Master Sitarist Sharma Raj Kumar; and West African rhythms with Australia's foremost percussionist Ray Pereira, and Ni Tettey Tetteh, a master musician from Ghana. Konrad has translated these influences to the drumset to create a unique voice inspired by these traditions.

Konrad's other projects include Subukranium, an eight piece purefunk ensemble; Thrust, a funk/jazz three piece blending influences from ol’skool to drum and bass; and composition for his solo drum music. There are planned CD releases for each of these projects in the near future.
